U.S. Representative Angie Craig, who has served Minnesota’s 2nd district in Congress since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing issues affecting workers, health care access, and the ongoing debate over government funding.

On September 1, 2025, Craig marked Labor Day by referencing her personal background and expressing support for workers’ rights. She wrote: “Happy Labor Day! Coming from a union family, I know that labor is the backbone of Minnesota’s economy. Minnesota’s workers need our support today and every day — and I’ll keep fighting for their right to collectively bargain for fair wages and safer working conditions.”

The following day, Craig commented on proposed budget cuts and their impact on health care in Minnesota. In a post dated September 2, 2025, she stated: “There’s no way to sugarcoat it: because of Republican budget cuts, 140,000 Minnesotans will lose access to the health care they need. Access to health care is a right – not a privilege. Now is the time to step up and fight back.”

Later that same day, Craig addressed the possibility of a government shutdown and attributed responsibility to Republican leadership. She posted: “Nope. Just no. You literally have majorities in the House and Senate – and the White House. The Republicans own any government shut down under their leadership. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.”

Craig has represented Minnesota’s 2nd District since defeating Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently resides in Prior Lake at age 51. Her educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Memphis in 1994.
