State Rep Jon Koznick, a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, recently shared several posts on his Twitter account addressing both community engagement and concerns over Capitol security.

On July 25, 2025, Koznick posted about his visit to Bemidji, stating: “Nice to drive up to Bemidji and be with @greatermncities Appreciate the invitation and conversations Also honored to also receive your Legislator of Distinction award. Thanks! #TeamKozMN”.

The following day, Koznick expressed concern regarding a security incident at the Capitol. On July 26, he wrote: “This incident is highly concerning and completely unacceptable in current environment. Capitol security is a difficult task, but this incident is raises big questions. I believe we spend over $19M on security, this type of incident can’t be tolerated. #mnleg”.

Later that same day, Koznick questioned the handling of an individual involved in the incident: “It’s not acceptable that he was apparently released in his own after the ‘mental health evaluation’ Who was he? Why isn’t the name public and why no charges or citations? Especially if WI had a warrant on the guy?”.

Koznick’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about public safety at government facilities and transparency regarding law enforcement procedures. The Minnesota Legislature has allocated significant funding for Capitol security in recent years.
