Representative Jon Koznick of Lakeville has been recognized as a “Legislator of Distinction” by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) during their annual Legislative Awards dinner in Bemidji. The award acknowledges his work as Chairman of the House Transportation Committee and his advocacy for communities throughout Greater Minnesota.

During the 2025 legislative session, Koznick was involved in efforts to address issues related to the 2023 greenhouse gas emissions law. The law had raised concerns among local governments about its potential impact on infrastructure projects and increased costs for cities. Under Koznick’s leadership, the House approved a delay in implementing the mandate. He also introduced proposals aimed at reducing negative effects from the law, although not all proposed changes were adopted due to disagreements within the legislature. His actions contributed to achieving some concessions and maintaining pressure on state officials to reconsider certain policies.

Koznick commented on the recognition: “I appreciate the recognition from the Coalition of Cities across Minnesota because it reflects the work we’ve done to push back on costly mandates and make sure transportation policies actually work for local communities. I’ll continue to push for transportation solutions that Minnesotans actually use and ensure that taxpayer money is spent responsibly. This means better roads and safer bridges, without costly mandates, to keep Minnesotans moving.”
