State Rep Jon Koznick, a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, posted a series of comments on his social media account on September 5 and 6, 2025. The tweets address concerns about media coverage, criminal prosecution policies in Minnesota, and recent remarks attributed to Governor Tim Walz.

In a post dated September 5, Koznick criticized a radio segment involving local journalists: “What an absolute hack job on @wccoradio with @rochelleolson today. With legacy media like this, it’s no wonder we have the one sided narratives and unbalanced policy in this state – which has lead to many of the problems in MN.”

Later that day, he commented on crime prosecution practices in two major Minnesota counties: “Amen. Stop being soft on prosecuting crime (Hennepin & Ramsey Co). Charge offenders under existing laws, to do otherwise is a disservice to brave law enforcement we task with keep us safe against criminals.”

On September 6, Koznick referenced statements made by Governor Tim Walz regarding former President Donald Trump: “Or if a Jack leader of a state jokes about Pres Trump death to too. (Walz – completely unacceptable. Constituents say he should resign. I think he will- at end of this term/ no 3rd term)”

Koznick’s posts come amid ongoing debates over public safety policy and political discourse in Minnesota. Hennepin and Ramsey counties include Minneapolis and St. Paul respectively; both areas have seen scrutiny over approaches to law enforcement and prosecution strategies in recent years.

Governor Tim Walz has been serving as governor since January 2019 after previously representing Minnesota’s First Congressional District for six terms.
