Empire home prices rise in 2018

The median sale price of a home sold in 2018 in Empire rose by $16,000 while total sales decreased by 2.2%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2018, there were 45 homes sold, with a median sale price of $285,000 - a 5.9% increase over the $269,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 46 homes sold in Empire in 2017.

The median sales tax in Empire for 2018 was $3,191. In 2014, the median sales tax was $2,424. This marks an increase of 31.6%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.1%.
