South St. Paul home prices rise in the second half of 2018

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2018 in South St. Paul rose by $18,275 while total sales increased by 30.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2018, there were 246 homes sold, with a median sale price of $209,000 - a 9.6% increase over the $190,725 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 188 homes sold in South St. Paul in the second half of 2017.

The median sales tax in South St. Paul for 2018 was $2,515. In 2014, the median sales tax was $1,886. This marks an increase of 33.4%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.2%.
