Minnesota’s public education system is enjoying high rankings, according to a national study.

According to TheCenterSquare.com, Minnesota has been ranked seventh in a study analyzing public education. The study itself was designed following the format Quality Counts from Education Week.

Among the aspects analyzed were high school graduation rates, funding per student and participation in preschool.

The study found that in Minnesota, students are 82.7 percent likely to graduate from 12th grade and spending per student is $12,647. Additionally, 49.6 percent of children three to four years of age participate in preschool.

Among the adult population, bachelor’s degree attainment percentage is 36.7.

In addition to these numbers, 24/7 Wall St.’s study also showed that the states in the top ten rankings were likely to exhibit high performance in reading and math, with students also more likely to graduate on time.

According to the study, the states with the top schools were Massachusetts — in first place — with a 88.3 percent graduation rate, $16,197 spending per student and 58.4 percent of preschool participation, New Jersey — in second place — with a 90.5 percent graduation rate, $18,920 spending per student and 62.1 percent of participation in preschool and Connecticut — in third place — with a 87.9 percent graduation rate, $19,322 spending per student and 61.7 percent participation in preschool.

According to Patch.com, Niche’s rankings of Minnesota’s top public schools list placed Minnetonka Senior High School, Wayzata High School, Edina Senior High School, Eden Prairie Senior High School, and Math & Science Academy, Eagan Senior High School, St. Croix Preparatory Academy Upper School (Stillwater), Mounds View Senior High School, Eastview Senior High School (Apple Valley) and Nova Classical Academy Upper School (Saint Paul) in the top ten slots.

These ratings took into account factors such as test scores, college data and previously submitted ratings about the particular schools.
