CITY OF FARMINGTON: MRCI Suspends Client- Based Programming

Interviewmedia

City of Farmington issued the following announcement on March 17

MRCI has made the decision to suspend programming at seven client-program locations starting Wednesday, March 18 through at least March 31, 2020. Additionally, MRCI Bargains (in New Ulm) is also closed and the MRCI Thrift Shop (in Mankato) will close on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Brian Benshoof, CEO, said in an email to staff, “I want you to know that these decisions are very difficult, but must be done first and foremost with the health and safety of you and our clients in mind.”

Benshoof continued, “The hard reality is that this will result in the temporary layoff of most of our program and other support staff during this time period. We will retain some personnel to maintain the business operations of the organization, but will operate with a very small workforce.

“We are in extraordinary days right now and all I can ask of you is to bear with us, knowing we are going to do all we can to bring things back to normal as soon as possible. We are working around the clock through our state associations to seek financial assistance to restore lost wages and benefits you may use. We will let you know immediately when we know something new. In the meantime, please take care of yourself and your families and continue to limit your exposure to others,” Benshoof concluded.

Specifics related to the program suspensions as well as the programs that are still operating are available online at mymrci.org.
