Rep. Tony Jurgens was honored with an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for supporting agricultural education at the 42nd Annual Randolph FFA Awards.
"As the son of a South Dakota farm girl I've always felt at home on a farm, whether it was as a kid on my Grandpa and Grandma's farm south of Watertown or one of the many farms in and around the district I represent," Jurgens said in a Facebook post.
FFA uses agricultural education to prepare youth for leadership positions, personal growth and career success. FFA provides hands-on experiences and helps students discover their potential and talent, spurring them on toward real-world success. FFA is one of three components of agricultural education.
Jurgens represents District 54B in the southeastern Twin Cities metro area. He was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2016.
FFA Honorary Awards are given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to FFA.
FFA began in 1928 when 33 students from 18 states gathered in Kansas City, Missouri.
