City of Burnsville issued the following announcement on Sept. 30.
Burnsville’s compost site will be open for buckthorn disposal every weekend in October. Fall is a great time of year to remove buckthorn. Buckthorn leaves stay green through October, making it easy to identify as other trees and shrubs start to change color and lose their leaves. Herbicide treatments for the stumps are also very effective in the fall. For a map to the compost site, images of buckthorn, removal tips and more information visit www.burnsvillemn.gov/buckthorn.
