With just weeks to go before Election Day, State Rep. Tony Jurgens (R-Cottage Grove), took to Facebook to share his legislative achievements with constituents and potential voters.
Jurgens, who was first elected in 2016, is seeking to defend his seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives from Democratic challenger Kelsey Waits.
The lawmaker touted four campaign accomplishments in a post published on Oct. 16: Keeping communities safe, addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting citizens’ pocketbooks and assisting senior citizens.
On the tail end of the protests sparked by the death of 46-year-old George Floyd on Memorial Day, Jurgens said he will continue to work to ensure that residents feel safe in their neighborhoods and vowed not to support any efforts to defund law enforcement.
Regarding the coronavirus, the legislator asserted that he approved bills that helped families devastated by the public health crisis.
He further promised to keep opposing tax increases and protect senior citizens’ Social Security benefits.
Jurgens’ district, 54B, is comprised of the southeastern Twin Cities metropolitan area.
