Republican Tony Jurgens reclaimed his House seat in District 54B after defeating Democratic opponent Kelsey Waits.
Jurgens thanked voters for their faith in him.
“I want to thank the voters of District 54B for your confidence and for re-electing me to another term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
“You'll never know how much I appreciate your support and what an honor it is to serve this great district. Thank you!,”he posted on Facebook.
Waits also thanked those who supported her during the campaign and election period.
“First of all, thank you again for all of your support on this incredible journey. I learned a lot about myself through the experience and there is no doubt that it will make me a better advocate for our communities,” read part of her Facebook post.
Going forward, she said she will be pursuing her education.
“My plan is to continue my work on the Hastings School Board and I'll also be pursuing my PhD at the Humphrey School as one of only 6 PhD students entering this year. Through this, I'll continue to study public policy and political change. I'll also be working on a research project studying occupational licensing requirements,” read her post in part.
