City of Eagan recently issued the following announcement.
Arbor Day was first started in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, who planted thousands of trees in the barren Nebraska landscape. Since then, Arbor Day has grown to become an international holiday, where trees are planted all around the world. Tree planting is what Arbor Day is all about.
The Arbor Day poster contest has been a highlight of the City's Arbor Day celebration for over 35 years. The contest is an excellent opportunity for kids to participate in the celebration and showcase their creative talents. Arbor Day is more than just planting trees or creating posters. It is about understanding the importance of trees in our environment and appreciating their crucial role in our lives.
