WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Angie Craig introduced bipartisan legislation to streamline broadband expansion.
The Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Reviews Act would direct the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to create a new system for prioritizing broadband deployment requests on federal land.
Rep. Craig’s bipartisan legislation would help ensure the U.S. Department of Interior and U.S. Forest Service are working together effectively to expand broadband as quickly as possible.
There are more than 3.4 million acres of federal land in Minnesota.
“In the 21st century, you should be able to get online from anywhere, and that’s what our bipartisan bill will help accomplish,” said Rep. Craig. “I’m urging leaders in Congress on both sides of the aisle to help us move this important legislation forward.”
Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) is the lead Republican sponsor.
