Hastings Public School District students performance on MCA and MTAS in 2021-22 school year?

Hastings Public School District ranked third in the Dakota County for test participation, with 2,143 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Hastings Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 25.4% over the previous year.

Hastings Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 52% in 2021-22 school year.

Sixth grade students stood out with 22% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, third grade students had the most room for improvement, with 34% not meeting the expected standards.

Hastings Public School District encompasses schools within Dakota County and has a main office in Hastings.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
