Minnesota State Representative Jeff Witte has provided an update on recent legislative activities as the session resumes at the Capitol. According to Rep. Witte, committees are actively reviewing bills with a focus on preventing fraud, reducing everyday costs, and enhancing community safety. He noted that progress was briefly delayed due to a Supreme Court ruling regarding quorum requirements.
Rep. Witte addressed his commitment to bipartisan cooperation, stating, "Minnesotans deserve leadership that works for them—I am excited to keep pushing forward, working with both sides of the aisle to get Minnesota back on track!"
Earlier in the week, Rep. Witte spoke in remembrance of Firefighter/Paramedic Finseth and Officers Elmstrand and Ruge. He honored their dedication and sacrifice: "To their families, friends, and fellow first responders—we stand with you, we support you, and we honor their memory alongside you. Their service and courage will always be remembered."
Highlighting mental health challenges faced by first responders, Rep. Witte expressed support for new bipartisan efforts aimed at expanding mental health services for emergency personnel. "That’s why I’m proud to support new bipartisan efforts to expand mental health services for first responders. This initiative will strengthen peer support programs, improve access to care, and ensure those who sacrifice so much for us have the resources they need to heal," he said.
Rep. Witte also recognized school bus drivers during a week dedicated to honoring their service in transporting students safely across Minnesota each day. He met Kathryn Forbord from Schmitty & Sons Bus Co., reflecting on the important role bus drivers play: "To all the school bus drivers in Lakeville and beyond—thank you! Your service does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for all you do."
Additionally, Rep. Witte met with Senator Zach Duckworth and members of the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Cohort at the Capitol to discuss workforce issues and economic growth affecting local businesses.
Rep. Witte encouraged constituents to share their thoughts or concerns via phone or email: "Your thoughts, questions, and ideas are what keep me going! If there's something on your mind—whether it's about these bills or something else—please don’t hesitate to reach out."
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment: "It’s a true honor to represent you at the Capitol. Together, let’s keep making Minnesota a better place—one idea at a time!"
