Angie Craig, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019, recently highlighted several legislative priorities in a series of posts on her social media account. Her statements addressed funding for Minnesota public schools, the anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, and criticism of former President Trump’s stance on a stock trading ban.
On July 29, Craig commented on the release of previously withheld education funds: "Earlier this month, I joined my fellow MN Democrats in pushing the Administration to release more than $70 million they had been illegally withholding from MN public schools. This week, they announced they will begin to distribute that funding. I’m keeping the pressure on this https://t.co/bQQaytALpS".
The following day, Craig recognized a milestone for federal health care programs and criticized Republican efforts regarding those initiatives: "Today marks the 60th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid – programs that millions of Americans rely on for affordable care and life-saving health care. As Republicans continue to gut these critical programs, I’m fighting for access to health care for every Minnesotan."
Later on July 30, she also responded to news about opposition to a proposed stock trading ban: "By lobbying against a stock trading ban, President Trump is showing us once again where his priorities lie: in advancing his own self-interests and making the top 1% even richer. Minnesotans deserve to feel confident their elected officials are putting people over profit. It’s https://t.co/hYajRPPHOk".
Craig has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019 and resides in Prior Lake after being born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972. She graduated with a BA from the University of Memphis in 1994.
