Angie Craig, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019, has recently used her social media platform to address a range of issues affecting Minnesotans, including healthcare access, food assistance, and social media use in schools.
On September 7, 2025, Craig expressed concern over the potential effects of the Republican budget proposal on health coverage in Minnesota. She stated, "The Republican budget will increase the uninsured population in Minnesota by roughly 170,000. That’s 170,000 folks left without access to routine checkups, affordable prescription drugs or peace of mind when family emergencies strike. Minnesota deserves better."
The following day, Craig highlighted her efforts to support food security for families during a meeting with Tikki Brown, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families. She wrote on September 8: "It was great to meet with Tikki Brown, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families. As the Trump Admin rips away food assistance from kids and families, I’m working together with state leaders to ensure Minnesotans are able to put food on the table."
Later that same day, Craig addressed concerns about technology use among students by announcing proposed legislation aimed at limiting social media access during school hours. In her post dated September 8 she said: "You send your kids to school to learn and socialize – not scroll. I joined @Morning_Joe this morning to announce my bill requiring social media companies to block their platforms on K-12 campuses during the school day. It’s time to hold Big Tech accountable for the impacts".
Craig has represented Minnesota's 2nd District in Congress since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019 and is known for her focus on healthcare and family welfare issues. Born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently residing in Prior Lake, she holds a BA from the University of Memphis (1994).
