U.S. Representative Angie Craig, who has represented Minnesota’s 2nd district in Congress since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal tax policy, a violent incident at Utah Valley University, and the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act.
On September 9, 2025, Craig criticized former President Donald Trump’s proposal to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits. In her post, she stated: "Trump’s promise to cancel taxes on Social Security sounds good – but in reality, he’s proposing a band-aid solution with an expiration date – that will leave too many Minnesota seniors behind. If he won’t deliver on his promise – @SenGallego and I will. Our You Earned It, You https://t.co/uyhGadeETU".
The following day, September 10, Craig responded to an attack involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. She wrote: "This attack is a tragedy and the perpetrator should be held accountable to the highest extent of the law. My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk's loved ones and all those in the Utah Valley University community. We must come together as a nation and condemn any and all political".
On September 11, Craig issued a statement regarding recent legislative developments: "My statement on Republicans’ Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act: https://t.co/irkMLS1tak".
Craig has been active in Congress since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019 and is known for her engagement on issues affecting both Minnesota seniors and national policy debates. Born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and now residing in Prior Lake, she graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in 1994.
