Government funding and the possibility of a shutdown were central themes in recent social media posts by Angie Craig, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019. On September 29 and 30, Craig used her official account to call for bipartisan action to keep the government open and criticized the handling of the situation by Republican colleagues.
On September 29, Craig posted: "Government funding runs out tomorrow.
Democrats are in Washington, ready to negotiate a bipartisan funding bill that keeps the government open and lowers the cost of health care for millions of hardworking Americans.
Will our Republican colleagues come to the table?"
The following day, as the deadline approached, she reiterated her position with another statement: "It’s time to stop the chaos, fund the government and put power back into the hands of everyday Americans." (September 30).
Later on September 30, Craig addressed messaging from federal agencies regarding responsibility for a potential shutdown: "You can’t make this stuff up: this is the front page of the HUD website.
The Trump Admin knows they own this shutdown — that’s why they’re already trying to run from it.
Made a few edits, @HUDgov."
Angie Craig has represented Minnesota's 2nd District in Congress since succeeding Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and resides in Prior Lake. Craig graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
