Angie Craig, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019, has used her social media platform to criticize congressional Republicans and former President Trump over the recent government shutdown and related legislative disputes.

On September 30, 2025, Craig posted: "President Trump and congressional Republicans want to shut down the government but keep working to make your life harder. It’s time to check them."

Later that day, she addressed the issue of congressional pay during a shutdown, stating: "Republicans are refusing to do their jobs and negotiate a bipartisan funding bill. They shouldn’t get a paycheck for holding Americans’ health care hostage. I’m introducing a bill that suspends all pay for Members of Congress during a government shutdown." This statement reflects her intent to introduce legislation affecting congressional compensation in periods when federal funding lapses.

On October 1, 2025, Craig continued her criticism with another post: "My statement on President Trump and Republicans' government shutdown:"

Craig has represented Minnesota’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently resides in Prior Lake. Craig earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Memphis in 1994.
