U.S. Representative Angie Craig, who serves Minnesota’s 2nd district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to criticize the Trump administration and House Republicans regarding federal policies affecting farmers and families during a government shutdown.
On October 15, 2025, Craig posted on X: "ICYMI: While family farmers in Minnesota and Maine are losing business to Argentina, the Trump Admin is organizing a $40 billion bailout to Argentina — because who needs to reopen the government when you could just spend all your time and energy finding taxpayer dollars to give". In this message, she expressed concern over support for foreign interests while local farmers face economic challenges.
Later that day, Craig addressed food security issues related to federal nutrition programs. On October 15, 2025, she wrote: "As if Republicans’ $186 billion cut to SNAP wasn’t enough – their shutdown makes it harder for Minnesotans to keep food on the table. I'm in Washington, fighting to end this shutdown so Minnesota families can access the food they need. The saddest part is that my Republican".
Continuing her criticism of congressional Republicans amid the ongoing shutdown, Craig posted on October 16, 2025: "Democrats are in Washington ready to end this shutdown – meanwhile, Republicans can’t even be bothered to show up to work. It’s time they stop whining, get back to Washington and reopen the government."
Craig has represented Minnesota's 2nd District since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently resides in Prior Lake. Craig graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
