Angie Craig, U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019, used her social media accounts on October 16 and 17, 2025, to comment on current national issues including the trade war with China and an ongoing federal government shutdown.

On October 16, Craig criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies, specifically referencing tariffs affecting American farmers. She stated, "Trump has launched us headfirst into a trade war with China and is treating American soybean farmers as collateral damage. I’m demanding he end his illegal tariffs to provide relief to American soybean farmers. So much for 'America First.'"

Later that day, Craig addressed the impact of the federal government shutdown on her constituents’ access to services: "Over the years, my office has been able to assist thousands of constituents in receiving IRS refunds, accessing VA benefits, finding pathways to citizenship and so much more. But now that Republicans refuse to end this shutdown, and the Admin is draining federal agencies –"

On October 17, she referenced Speaker Johnson’s remarks regarding congressional responsibilities during the shutdown: ".@SpeakerJohnson said it best. It’s time for Republicans to get back to Washington, do their jobs and end this shutdown."

Craig was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and currently resides in Prior Lake. She earned a BA from the University of Memphis in 1994.
