Angie Craig, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Minnesota’s 2nd district since 2019, used her social media platform to address concerns about the ongoing government shutdown and trade issues affecting her constituents in October 2025.
On October 17, Craig stated her position on federal workers' rights during a shutdown: "Despite what lies this Admin is trying to peddle, the law is clear: all federal workers are entitled to backpay after a government shutdown ends. I will not accept this Administration’s attempts to threaten federal workers for their own political gain."
The following day, she shared insights from a meeting with local agricultural stakeholders. On October 18, Craig wrote: "Today I joined @FarmersForTrade and heard from Minnesota farmers about how Trump’s trade war is destroying markets. While the Trump Admin bails out Argentina, I’m working with MN farmers to find new export and domestic markets."
Later that same day, Craig issued a direct message to former President Donald Trump regarding the shutdown negotiations: "Here’s my message to Donald Trump: Get your ass back to the table to end this government shutdown."
Craig has represented Minnesota's 2nd congressional district since defeating Jason Lewis in 2019. She was born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972 and resides in Prior Lake. In addition to her legislative work, Craig graduated from the University of Memphis in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
