The Minnesota Vikings announced on May 7 that they have agreed to terms with wide receiver Jauan Jennings, a veteran player who recently became a free agent after his contract with the San Francisco 49ers expired.
Jennings joins the Vikings at age 28, bringing experience and production to a receivers group led by Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. The move comes after Minnesota did not select a receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Last season, Jennings started 15 games for San Francisco, making 55 catches for 643 yards and nine touchdowns. In the previous year, he posted career highs with 77 receptions on 113 targets for 975 yards. Since being drafted in the seventh round in 2020 out of Tennessee, Jennings has recorded a total of 210 catches for 2,581 yards and scored 22 touchdowns over his career. He has also made an impact in playoff games with both receiving and passing touchdowns.
Jennings had notable performances such as scoring both a receiving and passing touchdown during Super Bowl LVIII. He is one of only two players—alongside former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles—to achieve this combination in Super Bowl history. In college at Tennessee from 2015-19, he ranked fourth all-time in program receiving yards and played alongside current Vikings safety Theo Jackson.
Throughout his professional career, Jennings has shown versatility by playing both inside as a slot receiver early on and more recently taking on outside roles. Analytics from Pro Football Focus indicate that he was among the league leaders in contested catches over the past two seasons while also earning high marks for run blocking.
Jennings is expected to complement an evolving receivers room that recently lost Jalen Nailor to free agency but added third-round pick Tai Felton and return specialist Myles Price.
