The U.S. News & World Report released the rankings for the top schools in Minnesota and Eagan Senior High ranked at ninth place in the state, and number 617 in the nation.

The most current report takes into account the practices of distance learning for the first time as schools confront the challenges of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The Best High Schools rankings provide the most comprehensive, data-based information on nearly every public high school in the country," Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News, said to Patch News. "Families can use this information to see how their local schools compare on graduation rates and state assessments, as well as academic performance by students who are traditionally underserved — those who are black, Hispanic or from low-income households."

The data from 23,000 public high schools was used to create the prestigious ranking system. The list ranks over 17,000 schools on the criteria of state assessments and college preparedness.

Woodbury Math and Science Academy ranked No. 1 in the Minnesota top schools. Nationally they ranked among the top 200 in the country at number 133.
