City of Coates issued the following announcement on May 7.
Residents can resume bringing household chemicals, electronics and more to The Recycling Zone, 3365 Dodd Road in Eagan, starting Wednesday, May 20. Due to COVID-19 and physical distancing requirements, safety changes have been made to the drop-off process. Please be patient as it may take longer to safely unload vehicles.
Residents dropping off items must remain in their vehicles at all times. Dakota County recommends wearing a face mask while using the facility. All materials except sharps must be in the trunk or the very back of the vehicle to be unloaded by staff. Keep sharps containers in or near the front seat. Drivers will be required to put the container into a large sharps bin while staying in the vehicle.
Ensure your items are labeled with secure lids in an upright position and transported in a box that can be left behind. Gas cans and oil containers can be returned the following open day after being emptied.
Have your ID ready. Staff will need to scan the barcode on the back of your driver's license. Please have a credit card or exact change ready for fees on TVs, monitors and tires. TVs and monitors have a $10 recycling fee and tires vary by size starting at $5. All other items are accepted for free.
Loads larger than a pickup load of household hazardous waste and recyclables must call to schedule a drop-off time. The Reuse Zone will remain closed until further notice.
