CITY OF COATES: Research Land Records And Maps Virtually

Masterplan

City of Coates issued the following announcement on July 15.

The Dakota County Historical Society will host a virtual genealogy presentation called “Researching Land Records and Maps" by Cathi Weber on Wednesday, July 29. The presentation is offered to the public free of charge. To register, please visit the Dakota County Historical Society website.

Registration is required to receive the meeting room invite and passcode. While the event is offered free of charge, donations are encouraged to offset the financial hardships COVID-19 is having on historic sites while they were closed from March through June.

As a researcher, you have likely scoured archives and repositories looking for census records, newspapers and so much more. One often overlooked area for researchers is land records and maps. This presentation will explore how you can use these two helpful items in your own genealogy research.

Cathi Weber has been conducting genealogy research for more than 40 years and started NorthStar Genealogy to help others with their research and to teach classes. She is president of the Anoka County Genealogical Society and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, in addition to a genealogy instructor and researcher.
