People who live in Dakota County who are having trouble paying their housing and utility bills may be eligible for the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program.
The program aims to help those who've lost income because of the pandemic to pay rent, mortgage, utilities and other expenses, according to a county press release.
To qualify, applicants must have an income that's either at or below 300% of the federal poverty level, have a qualifying bill since March that's past its due date, and are unable to make one or more payments on it because of issues related to the coronavirus.
County staff will look over the documents to make sure the applicant qualifies for the program.
There are several ways to apply. Those in need of the assistance can either: call 211 or 651-291-0211 or text "MNRENT" or "MNHOME" to 898-211.
More information can be found on the United Way's website. Multilingual employees are available at the 211 help hotline on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
