Dakota, Scott County accept nominations for candidates that have improved local workplaces

The Dakota-Scott WorkForce Development Board (WDB) recently announced that they are accepting nominations for individuals, programs, companies and organizations that deserve recognition for improving Dakota and Scott County workplaces, according to a news release by Dakota County.

There are six award categories.

The Mark McAfee Friend of Workforce Award recognizes individuals that have championed workforce issues at the local, state or federal level.

The Business Champion Award recognizes outstanding companies that also use CareerForce services such as the job fairs, job postings or working with counselors.

The Bob Killeen Award recognizes companies that use innovative or quality practices.

The Willis E. Branning Excellence in Youth Employment Services Award recognizes organizations, programs, employers or individuals that have demonstrated commitment to preparing young people ages 14-24.

The Bob Klas Sr. Entrepreneur Award recognizes local entrepreneurs success stories.

The Employer of the Year for People with Disabilities will recognize an employer who has improved the lives of people with disabilities through employment.

The deadline for nominations is is 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

The awards will be presented at the WDB's annual Legislative and Employer Awards event in December.
