City of Coates issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
Camper cabins at Dakota County's Whitetail Woods Regional Park soon will be available to reserve 120 days, or four months, in advance. This change from the existing reservation window of one year in advance will go into effect Nov. 2.
Shortening the reservation window is intended to improve customer satisfaction, open the popular camper cabins to more new users and allow greater flexibility for cabin maintenance.
Whitetail Woods offers three pine forest camper cabins and will open two new prairie cabins for use beginning Nov. 15. Reservations for the prairie cabins open Nov. 2.
The reservation change only affects camper cabins at Whitetail Woods. Campsite reservations at Lebanon Hills and Lake Byllesby regional parks are not affected.
Camper cabin reservations made before Nov. 2 will be honored even if they are more than four months in advance. The 120-day window will apply to reservation changes that require a new booking.
Dakota County Parks will monitor cabin reservations and visitor input to ensure the change meets customer satisfaction.
