The Minnesota Department of Transportation has launched its "Name a Snowplow" contest, according to a press release.
The contest gives residents a chance to name eight snowplows, one for each district in the state. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking for creative, witty and fun names for each snowplow.
Residents can submit their ideas by visiting the Minnesota Department of Transportation website. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, Jan. 22, 2021. All Minnesotans are invited to participate.
The department has already seen thousands of submissions, according to MPR News. Minnesota Department of Transportation communications director Jake Loesch said he saw 8,000 submission in the first day.
"I really was surprised at how fast they came in and and how many people were sharing it. I knew it would be something people liked, given the attention we saw last week and people asking about it. But I mean, it's kind of blown me away, honestly," he said.
In February, the Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to reveal all of the best name ideas and the public will get to vote on their picks. The names with the most votes will be the names of the eight snowplows.
