Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington metro lag behind San Diego-Carlsbad in 2019

The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington metro area exported $18.4 billion in 2019, less than exports from San Diego-Carlsbad in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington metro area consists of 10 counties.

The San Diego-Carlsbad metro area comprises one counties exporting $19.8 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
