Nominate a local hero to be recognized as Dakota County celebrates the lifesaving efforts of first responders and citizens during National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 21–27.
Each year, the Dakota County EMS Council recognizes first responders and residents who contribute to public safety and emergency medical services. Community members can nominate citizens and emergency personnel for two awards:
- Outstanding EMS Response – This award honors an individual or team for an outstanding emergency medical call by EMS personnel, first responder or 911 dispatcher.
- Outstanding EMS Action by a Citizen – This award honors a private citizen for a lifesaving act in which quick thinking, fast action and heroism were demonstrated, or for unique advocacy of EMS within Dakota County.
Last year, the council awarded first responders and citizens for saving the lives of adults in cardiac arrest and a young child who wasn't breathing and helping a woman with the emergency delivery of her baby. Read more about the winners.
