WASHINGTON, DC – This week, U.S. Representatives Angie Craig (D-MN), Dina Titus (D-NV) and Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) introduced a bipartisan resolution to recognize May 21st-27th as a National Public Works Week.

U.S. Senators Tom Carper (D-DE) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) have authored companion legislation in the Senate.

Rep. Craig and her colleagues authored this resolution to recognize and celebrate the vital work of our nation’s public works professionals who manage water, sewer and public transportation systems and maintain public buildings and grounds.

“Minnesota’s public works professionals show up every day – ready to work hard to maintain and improve the critical infrastructure that keeps our communities moving forward. I’m proud to introduce this bipartisan resolution to celebrate their dedicated work,” said Rep. Craig.

"The infrastructure systems supporting our water, public buildings, and transportation could not operate without public works professionals who work around the clock to keep them running,” said Rep. Titus. “As we continue investing in our infrastructure, let's also celebrate the contributions these men and women have made to the safety and resilience of our communities and country."

“National Public Works Week is a time to remember or learn about how public works professionals keep American communities running smoothly and efficiently,” said American Public Works Association President Keith Pugh, PE, PWLF. “APWA thanks Representatives Craig, Titus and Van Drew for this House resolution and their commitment to the public works profession. Together we are advancing the quality of life for all.”
