In March, Rep. Craig voted with Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans to send the HALT Fentanyl Act to the House Floor

WASHINGTON, DC – On May 25, U.S. Representative Angie Craig helped pass the HALT Fentanyl Act with support from both Republicans and Democrats.

The HALT Fentanyl Act would permanently schedule fentanyl-related substances in Schedule I – giving law enforcement access to the increased resources and support needed to more effectively combat the fentanyl crisis.

“I hear from families who have lost loved ones to fentanyl every single day – that’s who I was thinking of when I cast my vote today. We can’t play politics with an issue as serious as the fentanyl crisis, and I’ll keep working across the aisle to make progress and save lives,” said Rep. Craig.

Rep. Craig supported the bill as part of her continued push to secure additional resources for law enforcement as they combat the unique challenges posed by the fentanyl crisis.

In February, Rep. Craig joined a bipartisan group of colleagues from the Energy and Commerce Committee for a field hearing on the fentanyl crisis and a border tour in McAllen, TX.

Additionally, she is a cosponsor of the bipartisan Save Americans from the Fentanyl Emergency Act to help law enforcement prosecute the manufacturing and sale of illicit fentanyl, and the STOP Fentanyl Overdoses Act to ramp up the public health response to the opioid epidemic.
