Angie Craig, a U.S. Congress member representing Minnesota's 2nd district since 2019, has been vocal about recent legislative developments and her ongoing advocacy efforts. Born in West Helena, Arkansas in 1972, Craig now resides in Prior Lake and holds a BA from the University of Memphis.
On May 16, 2025, Craig criticized her Republican colleagues for supporting legislation that could impact health insurance coverage for many Americans. She stated on Twitter, "This week, my Republican colleagues doubled down on a bill that will kick millions of Americans off their health insurance. Let that sink in."
Later the same day, Craig shared details of her meeting with Sue Abderholden to discuss mental health resources for Minnesotans. Acknowledging Abderholden's long-standing service as head of NAMI Minnesota, she tweeted on Twitter, "This week, I met with Sue Abderholden to discuss our work to protect mental health resources for Minnesotans. As Sue steps down as head of @NAMIMinnesota after 24 years of fierce advocacy—I want to thank her for her dedication to bettering the lives of folks with mental health."
Additionally, Craig commented on the House Budget Committee's failure to pass a budget bill due to internal disagreements among Republicans. On Twitter, she remarked, "Today, the House Budget Committee failed to pass the Republicans’ partisan budget bill when 5 Republicans voted no. Why? Not because cutting food assistance and health care for their hardworking constituents is too extreme – but because it isn’t extreme enough."
Craig has been an active voice in Congress since replacing Jason Lewis in 2019.
