Rep. Tony Jurgens recently announced in a Facebook post that he is honored to receive the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree.
Jurgens received the degree for supporting agriculture education and the Future Farmers Association (FFA).
"Tonight at the 42nd Annual Randolph FFA Awards Program I was honored to receive an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for supporting Ag education and the FFA," Jurgens wrote. "Pictured with the Randolph FFA Officer Team and Mr. Ed Terry who has been the FFA advisor for over 40 years. As the son of a South Dakota farm girl I've always felt at home on a farm, whether it was as a kid on my grandpa and grandma's farm south of Watertown or one of the many farms in and around the district I represent."
FFA strongly relies on the support of state leaders, educators, communities and companies to provide experience and encounters for its members.
According to the FFA website, the association honors individuals who provide that experience with an Honorary American FFA Degree.
"Each year, at the National FFA Convention & Expo, those who have made outstanding contributions to FFA are honored with Distinguished Service Citations, VIP awards or the Honorary American FFA Degree," the official website reads.
